SMOGA currently offers one Scholarship and two Grants

The St Matthew’s Collegiate School Old Girls’ Endeavour Grant aims to financially assist an Old Girl, or the widower of an Old Girl, to send their daughter to St Matthew’s Collegiate School.

The Endeavour Grant is for the daughter of an Old Girl who attended St Matthew’s Collegiate School for a minimum of 2 full school years. The Old Girl must be a fully paid SMOGA Member.

The Endeavour Grant’s Terms and Conditions require that the daughter must already have a position confirmed, as a daygirl or boarder, for the year of the application.

The Endeavour Grant value is for a minimum of $2500 per annum.

This scholarship application is open again in November 2023.

Spirit of New Zealand Grant:

The SMOGA offers a yearly grant to fund a voyage on the Spirit of New Zealand. The grant is worth $2,500 which covers the cost of the voyage (excluding travel). The grant is open to students that are 16 years and older, and meet the conditions outlined in the Grant conditions. The grant will be awarded based on a ballot system and applications for 2024 voyage close on Friday 16th of June.

 Outward Bound Grant:

This Outward Grant is a one off grant of $2,500 incl GST to cover the partial cost of an 8 day or 21 day teen course. Other costs are not covered by the Grant. The Grant recipient is encouraged to fundraise the remainder, or part of, the remainder, of their course costs.

Gretchen Williamson – Excellence in Commerce Scholarship:

This scholarship has been enabled by the generosity of Gretchen Williamson, a St Mathews student from 1986-1992. The scholarship will be awarded to an exceptional Year 13 student who is going to study Commerce. It will be for a total of $5,000, with $2,500 paid at the beginning of Years 1 and 2. Gretchen will also mentor the recipient throughout the scholarship term.
